I've arrived at Taizé where I've been offered the opportunity to spend the night in the 'Pilgrim's Barracks' (their term, not mine!), share in a couple of meals and experience the worship.
Thousands of people, particularly young people, flock to Taizé every year to experience the rich contemplative depth of the community - incidentally, demonstrating that what young people look for in a faith community is exactly the same as what older people look for: authenticity, depth, genuine spirituality, the capacity to take God seriously. Children, in my experience, respond to this too. But we're so often tempted to try to entertain them (games, food, movies, quizzes, trips) without always offering the living water they actually want.
I'm sitting in the Church right now and about to spend some time in contemplating. Boy, talk about to God in the beautiful places ...
The most beautiful Ecumenical place for all Faiths being together as one 🙏 Jesus must be smiling at this place 😄

ReplyDeleteA seven year old at our village school has told me, through their mum, that they want to be baptised & confirmed. I responded that they must be inspired through the RS lessons & Christian ethos of the primary school. Mum replied that, in fact, it is my presence & input, which left me speechless!
Thank you Chris for this reminder of godly community and the call for quiet, consistent integrity.
I, on the other hand, and not surprised it was you that inspired them ... 😁
